CFA Awards Night and Banquet - Monday, November 21, 2011 The CFA held its 39th awards and banquet party at the Steelton Italian Club Monday, November 21, 2011. Approximately 170 people, comprised of CFA officers, team reps, coaches and association volunteers attended the event. Following are the awards and trophies presented: Super Bowl XXXVIIII Championships - 39th year: Peewee American and National Champs: Harrisburg Broncos and New Cumberland Saints. Pony American and National Champs: Good Shepherd Rams and Swatara Tigers. Midget American and National Champs: Cumberland Valley Eagles and Juniata Little Indians. Trophies and Awards: Division Champs (12 trophies); Coach of the Year (8 trophies); Sportsmanship team and association Awards (10 trophies); Volunteer of the Year Awards (4 trophies); Commissioners Spirit of Football Award (1 trophy) and Hall of Fame Awards (6 trophies). Crown Trophy provided the awards and the food for the banquet was catered by What If. Coach of the Year awards: Smurf American and National Conference Coach of the Year: Greg Morris, Harrisburg Broncos and Terry Kennedy, Lower Dauphin Warriors. Peewee American and National Conference coach of the year: Salaman McGraw, Swatara tigers and Tom Staker, Seven Sorrows Eagles. Pony American and National Conference coach of the year: Rod Swigart, Holy Name Jets and Steve Bodley, Juniata Little Indians. Midget American and National Conference coach of the year: Tim Cramer, Cumberland Valley Eagles and Bob Stone, Seven Sorrows Eagles. Sportsmanship Awards: Smurf American and National Team Sportsmanship Award: Scott Cavada, St. Joseph Chargers and Adam Geedy, Jiniata Little Indians. Peewee American and National Team Sportsmanship Award: John Thompson, St. Joseph Chargers and Charles Jones, Boiling Springs Bengals. Pony American and National Team Sportsmanship Award: Jeff Ling, Cedar Cliff Colts and Steve Bodley, Juniata Little Indians. Midget American and National Team Sportsmanship Award: Tim Cramer, Cumberland Valley Eagles and Bob Stone, Seven Sorrows Eagles. Commissioners Spirit of Football Award: The CFA Commissioners Spirit of Football Award is presented to a sponsor, official, commissioner, team rep, coach or player who has demonstrated all of the characteristics that make up the creed of the CFA Football League. The recipient must have demonstrated qualities of honor, courage, sportsmanship, unselfishness, commitment and family. This years prestigious award, presented by Joe Headen (Head Coach of the Susquehanna High School Football Team), went to "Warren Ritter" of the Swatara Tigers. Hall of Fame Inductees (Class of 2011):
Volunteer of the Year Awards: Rebecca Diehl, Cedar Cliff; Darline Durham, Good Shepherd; Mary Mitchell, Good Shepherd; Jim Malinish, Boiling Springs Bengals; Andrew and Rachael Wonders, Northern Polar Bears and Jon Rhoads, West Perry Mustangs. Final Remarks: As Commissioner of the CFA, I would like to thank the West Perry Football Association our Super Host for the 2011 CFA Championship Games. Thank you players, coaches PIAA officials, cheerleaders, parents and fans, and a special thank you to the CFA commissioners: David Bickel, Brad Humer, Jack Mitchell, Keith Newkam, Warren Ritter, Robert Youngblood and all of the CFA Team Reps for your help and support in making 2011 another great football season. CFA Football League CFA Awards Program – 2011 Season All Star Players Awards. All Star players are selected by their respective team coaching staffs for nomination to the CFA All Star awards committee. All head coaches are invited to the special voting meeting held after the regular season to speak about each of their players that are nominated for their respective post season awards and voting. Voting is done by each of the head coaches at their respective levels. The votes are tabulated for each voted on award. Ties are broken in accordance to the tie breaker policies established with preference given to last year players, division winners and playoff seedlings. The top three (3) vote winners of the various MVP awards are then named as finalist for those respective awards, and are presented a specially prepared certificate with the award winner receiving a commemorative trophy specially prepared for the CFA. For the Midget division, the league also names a first team for both offense and defense. The players selected by their respective conference head coach each receives a commemorative CFA all star jersey. Coach of the Year Award. Coach of the year awards are voted on by the head coaches of each team, the CFA commissioners and team reps of each program.
Sportsmanship Team Award. Sportsmanship awards are voted on by the head coaches of each team, the CFA commissioners and the team reps of each program.
Hall of Fame Award. Class of 2011
Hall of Fame candidates are voted on by the CFA team reps and commissioners respectively. CFA commissioner is given the right to name special awards each year as well as provide for the placement of additional Hall of Fame award winners based on previous year commitments and accomplishments into the leagues Hall of Fame class of each year. Volunteer of the Year Award. Volunteer of the year awards are voted on by the CFA team reps and commissioners respectively.
Commissioners Spirit of Football Award. The Commissioners Spirit of Football Award is presented to a Sponsor, Official, Representative, Coach or Player who has demonstrated all of the characteristics that make up the creed of the CFA Football League Organization. The recipient will have demonstrated qualities of Honor, Courage, Sportsmanship, Unselfishness, Commitment and Family.
