CFA 2007 Awards Program Narrative

Sunday, November 4, 2007

Memorial Football Field, Middletown

Good afternoon Ladies, Gentlemen and fellow football fanatics.

As a word of note to the fans on the visitors side of the field. Please feel free to move to the Home side of the stadium for today’s awards ceremonies as all of the Awards that we be presented today will be given out here in front of the Home bleachers.

On behalf of the Seven Sorrows football organization and the CFA Football League we welcome you to the 35th annual CFA Football League Super Bowl Championships. Today’s games bring to the conclusion yet another great season of football here in the CFA. We the CFA board of commissioners would like to congratulate not only the players and coaches who will be participating in today’s contests, but each and every player, cheerleader, coach and volunteer who has helped in making this another great season of football.

Each season we as a board work together to bring new ideas and changes that look to not only make the play of football both fun, challenging and rewarding to our organizations, but to also find new and exciting ways of rewarding and honoring our players and coaches as well as in "Giving Back" to our members and those in our communities. Several season’s ago we began to honor our Middle School age players for scholastic excellence by creating a CFA Football League All-American scholastic team and will continue so this year. Players who make their respective teams home school honor rolls are named to this honorable team. Please see your coach if you make your schools honor rolls to see if you are eligible for this years Scholastic All-Star Team.

Also, this season we again continue to move forward and for the forth time in the CFA History we are naming a balloted CFA Football League Midget Division All-Star team. Players from all 18 Midget division teams in their respective American and National Conferences were nominated by their respective coaching staffs and voting was conducted by the head coaches of each team to select not only the best players in each position but to also select and honor each player that our coaches felt earned the special recognition that is deserving of being name a CFA Football League All-Star.

In addition, this season we continue to take our Post-season awards to a whole new level as this year we will be once again honoring the following additional Post-Season awards:

Peewee and Pony Division MVP’s as well as Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year for each Division and Conference.

Coach of the Year awards for Smurf, Peewee, Pony and Midget Division levels of play in each Conference.

Volunteer of the Year Awards

And last but not least a new special Yearly Award to induct new members into our CFA Football League Hall of Fame.

Assembled to our left are the almost 200 Players, Coaches, Volunteers of the Year, and Hall of Fame recipients representing all of our teams who have been selected by the CFA Football League coaching staffs, League Reps and Commissioners to receive this year’s All-Star Awards presentations.

We ask you to please stand while the young men and the coaches of this year’s Midget Division

All-Star teams enter the field to honor America to open the 35th Annual CFA Football League Super Bowl games.

(PLAY SONG NUMBER ___10__ OF FIRST CD: LEE GREENWOODS GOD BLESS THE USA AT THIS TIME).

(Read the following at conclusion of song #1 after all players and coaches have formed the circle on the field in front of you and everyone is settled in place. Start song #2 before you read the following statement):

(PLAY SONG NUMBER ___3__ OF SECOND CD: KENNY CHESNEY’S "WHO’D YOU BE TODAY")

"Please continue to stand as the National and American Conference Peewee and Pony Finalists, Volunteer of the Year candidates, Hall of Fame Members and Coach of the Year Finalist enter the field as we listen to Kenny Chesney’s "Who You’d Be Today" to honor the memory and bravery of the September 11th 2001 tragedies and all our fallen hero’s of past and present that have sacrificed their lives for our great country".

(The National Conference Parade Group 2 will start to enter the field when the words on the Song start)

(When the National Parade Group 2 has reached the first 40 yard line, the American Parade Group 3 will start.… wait for the first "Chorus" to complete:

1st Verse
Sunny days seem to hurt the most
I wear the pain like a heavy coat
I feel you everywhere I go
I see your smile, I see your face
I hear you laughin' in the rain
Still can't believe you're gone

Chorus
It ain't fair you died too young
Like a story that had just begun
But death tore the pages all away
God knows how I miss you
All the hell that I been through
Just knowin' no one could take your place
Sometimes I wonder Who you'd be today…

Now turn down the music slightly but continue to let the Kenny Chesney song play in the background and say the following just after the end of the phrase "Sometimes I wonder who you’d be today… At this time the CFA Football Board of Directors will enter onto the field via the left Home Sideline and proceed to the 50 yard-line area nearest the sideline):

"Throughout the history of America, many brave men, women, friends, neighbors, brothers and sisters have stood side by side, arm in arm, and hand in hand to defend our beliefs and freedoms. The rights and privileges that we hold true today did not come without the sacrifice and courage of many brave Americans and fellow countrymen".

"Today’s generation of youth standing here today have been given this honor and chance because of the sacrifices made by their fellow young Americans who even today bravely face America’s enemies in war and conflict throughout the world".

"Please join us in reflection as we remember those who have lost their lives during the tragic events of September 11th and to honor those who serve to defend their memories and our way of life while we continue to listen to "Who You’d Be Today".

(TURN MUSIC BACK UP AT COMPLETION OF THE ABOVE STATEMENTS)

(Read the following at the end of the Kenney Chesney song "Who You’d Be Today"):

We ask you to please remain standing for the singing of our National Anthem.

(SINGING OF THE NATIONAL ANTHEM: Next song after Lee Greenwoods "GOD BLESS THE USA" or your own version)

(After National Anthem, the 3 Flag Holder Groups will start to leave the field and come at a straight angle towards the CFA Commissioners and then the players will be assembled in front of the home bench behind their respective teams names. "Start the next song as soon as the Flag Holders start to move…" After the players are assembled and you are given the que to start, read the following):

PLAY THE SONG: David Bowie’s Hero’s song # 3 on CD until it ends and then have it repeated until all the Awards are completed. You will end up playing this song at least 4 times or more from start to finish. Just keep playing it till we get to the end and you are que’d to read the statement "One Last Round of Applause".

Play Song (Bruce Springsteen SONG #1 "The Rising") Prior to giving out this final award.

(read the following at the same time after the song starts)

Ladies and Gentlemen, it was with great pleasure that we the CFA Football League Board of Commissioners proudly announced at last years Super Bowl games the creation of one final award to be given out annually by our league. The CFA Board of Commissioners is proud to announce the creation of the "CFA Football League Hall of Fame". This award is devoted to recognizing the special efforts of Coaches, League Reps, Commissioners, area Football Officials as well as others who have contributed extended years of "Giving Back" to the players and associations which make up our league. This award will be given to a very select few each year and the final criteria for possibly earning this award amongst other strict criteria includes that the recipient must have been involved with Youth Football for at minimum of 15 years and at least 5-years with a CFA Football League member team.

The CFA Football League "Hall of Fame" last year inducted7 their first member as approved by the Board of Commissioners. Our first member to be inducted into the Hall of Fame was CFA Football League Commission Mr. A. Joseph Cribari who has served as our League Commissioner from 1972 to the present. Please join us in giving Mr. Cribari a big round of applause for his continued support of the Youth of the CFA Football League.

The general representatives of the League as well as the CFA Board of Commissioners may elect each year up to 2 new members to the Hall of Fame. In Addition the Hall of Fame members may at their discretion elect to honor and name up to 1 additional member to be elected to the Hall of Fame.

This season we are proud to induct into the CFA Football League Hall of Fame 3 new members. Our inductees this year are:

Jack Mitchell. Jack has been involved with youth football for a almost 35 years. The amount of time and effort he has selflessly given are immeasurable. It would be nearly impossible to count the children, parents, and coaches he has influenced and mentored. To the Good Shepherd Rams, he is simply "Mr. Ram’s Football". Jack has also served as an Assistant Commissioner of the CFA for many years as well. The Good Shepherd Rams nominated Jack Mitchell to the 2007 CFA Football League Hall of Fame, and Jack’s inclusion to the Hall comes via the Hall of Fame member’s vote of Mr. A. Joseph Cribari. Please join us in congratulating and welcoming into the 2007 CFA Football League Hall of Fame. From the Good Shepherd Ram’s football program, CFA Commissioners, family and friends, Mr. Jack Mitchell.

Our Second inductee this afternoon has also devoted a large part of his life to "Giving Back" to the youth of American. Rory Morrison has served as a volunteer for the Boiling Springs Midget Football program for 17 years even though his own children have not been participants for several seasons. He has coached for 15 of those years at every level. He has served as Director of Coaching, Vice-President and is in the middle of his 7th year as President of Boiling Springs Midget Football Corporation. Mr. PJ Elvin, Boiling Springs Vice-president who wrote Rory’s induction nomination along with the Boiling Springs board of directors states, "it seems that there isn’t a day that one of us doesn’t receive some type of new knowledge from speaking to him about the sport, the organization or the CFA".

On behave of the Boiling Springs Bengal’s and the CFA Football League, along with family and friends; please join us in congratulating and welcoming to the class of 2007 CFA Football League Hall of Fame, Mr. Rory Morrison.

Our third and finally inductee to the CFA Football League Hall of Fame comes to us from the Cedar Cliff Cowboys Midget Football Association. Robert Keith has served the Cedar Cliff organization for 27 years of youth football. Prior to this season he had coached in 223 games, have 120 wins, 93 losses and 10 ties. He has dedicated his life to helping the youth of our community, especially on the football field his organization wrote. He has always found time to support the needs of children and help them learn and grow in sports. Every player show has ever been coached by Bob can tell a story. Perhaps it’s his walk, his shorts, his decorated hat, his whistle, or perhaps his yell: "Who are We??? Cowboys….". There is always and will always be a story to tell.

On behave of the Cedar Cliff Cowboys Midget Football Association and the CFA Football League, along with family and friends; please join us in congratulating and welcoming to the class of 2007 CFA Football League Hall of Fame, Mr. Robert Keith.

(after applause):

Ladies and Gentlemen, this will now conclude our 2007 Super Bowl opening ceremonies, All-Star and Awards program. Coming up next will be the American Conference Peewee Super Bowl Championship game between the Holy Name Jets and Harrisburg Bronco’s, a repeat of last years Peewee Super Bowl Championship. As a reminder, photos of this year’s team awards and selections will be taken at this time and if you are interested in taking a photo of your players or the entire team, you can do so after the league pictures have been taken.
